Anamorphic

main

If you have ‘squeezed’ footage that was filmed with an anamorphic lens, use one of the pulldown options next to Lenses to correct the display. The pulldown menu offers aspect ratios from 1:1 up to 2:1. These ratios are common anamorphic lens compression factors. Select the one that matches the anamorphic lens used to film that clip. When selecting an anamorphic correction, such as 1.5:1 or 2:1, the original as well as rendered media will remain unchanged and will only be corrected in the viewer. Aspect ratio metadata will also be preserved. Therefore, not only will the ‘squeezed’ clip be viewed correctly (‘de-squeezed’) in the viewer, but also in Final Cut Pro, as well as when using QuickTime Player, based on the file metadata.
